Romanticizing Your Work: A Love Letter to Your Career

Let’s be real—owning a business (or even working a job you love) isn’t all rainbows and sunshine. Some days feel long, draining, and let’s be honest, counting down the minutes until 5:00 PM on Friday is no way to live. But what if we started looking at work differently? What if we focused on the little things that bring us joy rather than just pushing through to the weekend?

I love writing and designing, and I feel incredibly lucky that this is my job. When I focus on that, I notice I have fewer Sunday scaries and more moments of enjoyment during my day. It might sound a little fluffy, but trust me—it works.

Create a Space You Love

One of the biggest things that helps me romanticize my workday is creating a workspace that genuinely makes me happy. My home office is designed intentionally to bring me joy every time I sit down at my computer. I’ll light my Little Sister Dahlonega candle, play some Norah Jones, and fully embrace my role as the main character in my own rom-com.

Even if you’re working remotely or from a coffee shop, you can still create an environment that feels good. Wear your favorite outfit (mine always involves bright colors), grab a special coffee drink (currently obsessed with the strawberry pistachio latte from Jethro’s Dahlonega), and use a planner that makes you excited to jot down notes. I’m a huge fan of paper products and have been super intentional about my to-do lists lately.

Take Intentional Breaks

I’ve started structuring my day with built-in breaks, and it’s been a game changer. Whether it’s a quick stretch, a walk on my walking pad, stepping outside for fresh air, or just taking a few deep breaths, I always come back feeling refreshed and ready to tackle my tasks. Work isn’t meant to be a marathon of exhaustion—little resets throughout the day make a world of difference.

Find the Joy in the Small Things

There are so many little ways to romanticize your work life—fresh flowers on your desk, working outside on a sunny day, or simply getting dressed in an outfit that makes you feel confident. It all adds up to a workday that feels more intentional, fulfilling, and dare I say—fun?

Me in my favorite outfit, which made for the best day!

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I hope you’re falling more in love with your job and your life every day. What small things do you do to make your workday sweeter?

xoxo, Meg
